An Exciting Event is a band of composer-performers who come together from Boston, MA; New York, NY; St. Paul, MN; Urbana, IL; Mr. Shasta, CA; and Seattle, WA to create, explore and celebrate music and puppetry, employing overlooked materials such as glass bottles, plastic milk jugs and yard waste; vintage forms such as rounds, iambic couplets, cumulative sentences, and themes and variations; and unconventional systems of tuning, rhythm and communication. The ensemble takes its name from a set of complex and humorous paintings by late Alabama painter, Bill Traylor. Learn more about this group and their projects through the website.

| Description: |
15 of Louis "Moondog" Hardin's wacky, odd-metered madrigal rounds are the literary and musical force of An Exciting Event's Moondog Madrigal Puppet Show, an epic tale of love, wheels, self-education, and a Giant Earthworm. This rhyming, rhythmic, ridiculous story is told by An Exciting Event's 12 performers as they move stealthily around the stage, giving life to their menagerie of classical, folk, and homemade musical instruments and rowdy crew of colorful garbage puppets who live in a world of ornate collage projections, antique books, and found objects. |
