| Description: |
The Good-for-Nothing-Lover is a unique blend of shadow theatre, dance, and poetry reading with live music, inspired by 17th Century Chinese street love songs turned Beatnik delight. In the spirit of the artistic flourish on Ming Dynasty China and the smoky jazz club of the Beat Generation, Lover tackles the age-old subject of love - human beings' favorite obsession. This production infuses our hallmark low-tech shadow casting method with high-tech video projections to provide a playground on three screens. Here, words, voices, bodies, and brushstrokes meld into the deep pulse of fretless strings from the worlds on ancient China and modern Jazz, taking the audience to a borderless dreamscape. |
