North America’s
Ambassador of Puppetry Arts
From time to time UNIMA-USA presents special awards to people
who have been extraordinary in their support of the goals of
UNIMA and of the art of puppetry. The board of UNIMA-USA unanimously
chose this person to receive an award and each member listed
the reasons this person should receive it. Mike Malkin created
the wording and we used a graphic design of Brad Williams to
frame the award. The award reads:

• Working tirelessly, intelligently and sensitively as
Producer of the Henson International Festival of Puppet Theatre
and President of the Henson Foundation

• Assisting scholars, documentary-makers, videographers,
online resource managers and educational institutions with problems
and projects related to puppet theatre

• Advancing the art of puppetry through her work as an
author, performer, and puppet builder
• Championing emerging and established artists by providing
performance venues as well as critical forums that help them
develop their work
• Enhancing the image of puppetry by captivating the interest
and imagination of the general public
• Being an honored friend and respected advocate of puppeteers
