Description:
Arnold
Schoenberg's seminal 12-tone song cycle based on the poems
of symbolist poet Albert Giraud is set to an evocative
staging that employs puppetry, shadows, the costumed members
of 8th Blackbird, and soprano Lucy Shelton. The traditional
character Pierrot is resurrected through the dark world
of the late 19th Century European cabaret. Accompanied
by short companion piece, "Reflections in the Water,"
a piece for solo marimba and rod puppets.
