| Description: |
Performed by 2-3 puppeteers who project two dimensional images made of plastic and acrylic gels onto a screen with three overhead projectors. Relying on inventive tricks including scrolls of plastic, making illusions, and faders allow the puppeteers to manipulate the pieces of plastic with a fluidity that is often mistaken for animation. Custom tables hold the overhead projectors and the puppets to allow various animated tricks. With graceful, hand manipulated cutouts and a bold graphic sensibility, this is a unique form of puppetry that in spirit and technique blends the manipulation of objects with the tricks of Victorian magic lanters slide shows and brings a modern twist to pre-cinema. Shows include Danny the Diver, Luna, From Out My Heart, and When Night Comes. |
