Applications are now being accepted for the 2021 UNIMA Scholarship. Every year we make a grant of $1000 available to help cover tuition costs or program fees for an American puppeteer who wishes to further their professional study of puppet theater outside the United States. The study and training covered by the Scholarship Fund may be undertaken with a recognized puppetry professional, or at a professional program, or, in some cases, at an international puppet festival, as long as it includes educational opportunities, like workshops. Candidates may use their scholarship at any time during the 2021 calendar year, depending on when the courses are being offered.
Applicants should be puppeteers with some professional experience, who have a university degree in puppetry, or who can otherwise demonstrate a serious commitment to the art form.
If you are interested in this unique opportunity to study and practice with master puppet artists around the Globe, please check out the eligibility requirements and download the Application Form.
The deadline for applications is December 30th for study programs that take place during 2021. The committee will review applications in January, and candidates will be notified of their decision by January 30th.
If you’ve ever been to a puppet festival then you know that the best part is sharing meals with fellow artists.
